Sharing stories through comics

Hi there!

Resultado de imagen de comic titleThis post is about comics. A comic is a very useful tool to use in class with our students. Through it, we can carry out many different activities in order to achieve diverse goals.

Comics can be used in two different ways. On the one hand, the teacher can create it in order to introduce new vocabulary, work with expressions or structures. And, on the other hand, the students can use this learning tool to express emotions or feelings.

Look at the example below to have an idea about it.

In this case, I have used "pixton". It is a web page that allows us to create a comic.

This comic is intended for 1st graders. Through it, we can teach the students new vocabulary about illnesses and the hospital such as headache, x-ray, stomachache, ambulance driver, medicine... And we can also work different structures like what's the matter?, I've got... or get on well soon.

It is a very interesting tool since we can choose from a wide range of frames, scenes and props. We can also edit different characters so that we can create an infinite variety of them, and it is possible to add any new element, sound and text.

Besides, it is a fun and educational activity for the students to do. If they create the comic, they have to explore new vocabulary, think about the structures they want to use, be imaginative, and learn in a different and playful way.

I have chosen Pixto because it is an easy-to-use learning tool for both teachers and students. It also offers a wide variety of possibilities to create the comic and adapt it to any topic that needs to work.
However, I have found a disadvantage. If we embed the comic in our blog it is not possible to reproduce the sounds that we have added in the different comic strips. Therefore, in addition to embed it I leave the link in case you want to see the complete comic, with the added sounds.

Hope you find it useful for your lessons!

See you in the next post!
